LAS CRUCES, N.M. –New Mexico State Athletics announced the NM State Football Locker Campaign is sold out, thanks to the generous support from former Aggie football players.
Â
The campaign began at the start of the 2017 football season, coinciding with the unveiling of the newly renovated Allen Family Locker Room. Â The project was made possible by the generosity of the Allen family as well as the Lori J. Paulson Football Excellence Fund. Since then, 69 former players have sponsored the 86 available lockers. Â A previous campaign resulted in 23 sponsored lockers and those have been memorialized in the same fashion as the lockers from the current campaign.
Â
Each locker sponsorship was $1,500 and included an etched metal plate listing the sponsoring player's name, position, jersey number and years played.
Â
"In the past, I have seen great success come from locker campaigns at Mizzou and Southern Illinois," Director of Athletics
Mario Moccia remarked. "I appreciate the generosity of our former players and glad we are memorializing their playing days in a meaningful fashion. I look forward to expanding this program to other sports soon!"
Â
Â
The project in total raised $130,000 for the Football Success Fund and will be utilized specifically for the sport of football with the approval of head football coach,
Doug Martin.
