Aggie Trio Earns All-WAC Accolades

Three NM State volleyball players received All-WAC honors for the tremendous efforts during their 2018 season.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Western Athletic Conference announced its All-WAC teams on Wednesday night. New Mexico State's Tatyana Battle and Megan Hart were named to the first team while Savannah Davison was named to the all-freshmen squad.

Battle received All-WAC First Team honors for the third time in her career. The senior ranked fourth in the conference for kills (3.62) and points (4.11) while also placing 10th in digs (3.11). She was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season after helping the Aggies to a 5-0 week that included the programs first win over Arizona.

The first team honor for Hart was the first of the middle blocker's career. The redshirt junior closed out league play with a .387 hitting clip, which ranked second in the WAC. She also averaged 1.12 blocks, putting her seventh in the league. Hart earned the WAC Defensive Player of the Week accolade once during her 2018 campaign when she helped the Aggies to a 2-0 record at home against Utah Valley and CSU Bakersfield.

Davison was the lone freshman from the Aggies' squad to receive a post-season award as she was named to the conference all-freshmen team. The outside hitter posted 3.08 kills per set during league play to rank eighth in the WAC and her 3.40 points per set was good enough for 10th. This is the fifth-straight year an NM State freshman has been named to the team.

New Mexico State begins its run at the 2018 WAC Volleyball Tournament on Friday, Nov. 23 when the team takes on the winner of the first-round match between the third-seeded UMKC Roos and the sixth-seeded Seattle U Redhawks in Bakersfield, Calif., First serve from the Icardo Center is set for 8 p.m. MT.
