Jordan Adds to Remarkable 2019 Roster

Autumn Gentry joins the Aggie volleyball squad for their 2019 campaign.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State volleyball head coach Mike Jordan announced the addition of Autumn Gentry to the 2019 roster on Friday. Gentry looks to make an impact as she joins the reigning Western Athletic Conference Tournament Champions next season.

"We are looking forward to having Autumn join us," Jordan said. "She is athletic, competitive, and a really good person as well. We believe she is a great fit for our program."

The native of Katy, Texas, comes to the City of Crosses as a setter and opposite hitter. As a sophomore she posted 1,541 assists, 143 kills, 158 digs and 46 aces. Gentry followed the campaign by tallying 650 assists, 194 kills on hitting .269, 313 digs and 23 aces as a junior. For her senior season, she posted 763 assists, 385 kills on hitting .314, 508 digs and 59 aces.

Gentry was a two-time recipient of the Katy ISD outstanding setter award. She was also named to the Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association's (GHVCA) FAB 50 list for three-straight seasons. In 2017, the setter earned first-team all-district accolades and was a GHVCA postseason all-tournament selection. For her 2017 and 2018 campaigns, Gentry received Katy ISD-Cy Fair all-tournament honors. 

During Gentry's senior season, the setter was named to the GHVCA post season first team as well as the postseason all-star team. She was also picked by the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches (TAVC) for the  all-state team and all-star team. the senior closed her season as Katy High School's Co-MVP.

NM State volleyball posted a 24-8 record during the 2018 season. The Aggies won the WAC Tournament, and by doing so, claimed the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
