LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State softball team travels to Lubbock, Texas, to face Texas Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The first pitch of the doubleheader against the Red Raiders is set for 1 p.m. MT.

WHERE IN THE WAC
New Mexico State holds the best batting average (.336) and earned run average (3.59) in the Western Athletic Conference so far this season. Fahren Glackin (.433) Shelby Shultes (.429) and Rachel Rodriguez (.419) sweep the top three batting averages in the league with Glackin also leading the WAC in on-base percentage (.622). Kayla Green posts a 2.56 ERA , which places the junior third in the conference. Â
LAST TIME OUT
NM State traveled to El Paso, Texas for the UTEP Tournament for its last set of contests. The Aggies went 4-1 with the highlight of the tournament being an 18-0 victory over Idaho State. Nikki Butler, Kelsey Horton each had a home run in the game while Shultes hit a pair of homers including a grand slam.
Samaria Diaz picked up with win when she pitched 4.0 innings and allowed just two hits while striking out a single Bengal batter during her time in the circle. Mikayla Bongi closed out the victory for the team, pitching 1.0 innings in the combined shutout.
KNOW YOUR FOE: TEXAS TECH
Texas Tech holds a 7-5 record for its 2018 campaign. TTU enters the doubleheader on a three-game winnings streak as the team swept Northwestern State last weekend. The Scarlet and Black outscored the Lady Demons 16-6 in the series including a 12-2 run-rule victory in the series finale.
Individually, Jessica Hartwell leads the Red Raiders on offense, posting a .455 batting average including three home runs and nine RBI. Michaela Cochran has started every game for TTU, recording a .378 hitting clip and team-leading 17 hits this season. In the circle, Erin Edmoundson stands out for the Texas Tech squad this season with her nine appearances and a single start. The freshman leads the team with a 1.12 ERA, allowing just a single homer so far this season
COMING UP: ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Following the doubleheader, the Aggies travel for a tournament at Arizona State. NM State is set to open the weekend against Coastal Carolina on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Â (MT).
