With 2:51 remaining in the game, senior
Jemerrio Jones exited the game with a final line of six points, 20 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Those 20 rebounds him put him in great company, joining Sam Lacey as the only other Aggie to record 20 rebounds in back-to-back games.
Â
Lacey recorded his back-to-back 20-rebound games against Montana State (2/9/70) and Air Force (2/14/70) during the 1969-70 Final Four run. Jones tallied his against UT Rio Grande Valley and CSU Bakersfield.
Â
With his two 20-rebound game this season, Jones joins a select group of prolific rebounders who have pulled down multiple 20-rebound games. Those names include Lacey (11 times), Billy Joe Price (three times) and George Knighton (two times).
Â
The 20 rebounds is just the 17th time this season a Division I player has hauled in 20-plus rebounds in a single-game. It is also tied for the fifth-most rebounds in single-game this season. Of those players with 20-plus rebounds this season, Jones is the only player to do it twice this season.

PROECT THIS HOUSE
Heading into Saturday's contest, New Mexico State holds a dominant 92-8 record on Lou Henson Court dating back to the 2011-12 season. Since that season, NM State has lost no more than two games at home in any season.
Â
STREAKY
With its 69-43 win over CSU Bakersfield on Thursday, NM State's win-streak now stands at 10-straight – which is tied for the ninth-longest in the country with Georgia State. The Aggies are also 1-of-10 teams still undefeated in league play through games on Feb. 8. The seven-game win-streak for NM State on the road is tied with Old Dominion, Montana and ETSU for the third-longest in NCAA. Vermont and No. 3/3 Purdue both have eight-game win-streaks on the road while No. 11/12 Saint Mary's leads the pack with 14-straight wins away from home.
Â
GRAND CANYON SHOWDOWN
Heading into Saturday's contest, New Mexico State is 8-2 all-time against Grand Canyon and is undefeated at home against the Lopes with a 5-0 mark. The last time these two teams squared off in the Pan American Center, NM State came out victorious 81-69.
Â
Since NM State and GCU battled in Phoenix, the Lopes have won six of their last eight games – falling to Utah Valley on the road and UT Rio Grande Valley this past Thursday in a heartbreaker 83-81. Grand Canyon is just 3-5 on the season when playing on the road. Its only wins in true road games came against Seattle U, Chicago State and UMKC.
Â
As a team, GCU is the nation's leader in 3-point field-goal defense with opponents shooting just 27.9-percent from beyond the arc. Its 63.7 points per game allowed is also ranked 14th in the country while its 11.6 scoring margin has it sitting in 20th. Lastly, the Lopes have the 25th-best assist rate in the NCAA – dishing out 17.0 dimes per game.
Â
Joshua Braun continues to pace GCU with 13.2 points per game on the year. However, Alessandro Lever – who is second on the team with 10.0 points per game – leads the team in scoring since the start of Western Athletic Conference play with 14.4 points per game. The freshman is also averaging 16.2 points for GCU in its last five contest while Braun is averaging just 9.8 during that same stretch.
Â
Casey Benson continues to be Grand Canyon's floor general by far, commanding a team-high 126 assists on the year. He's also third on the team in scoring with 9.9 points per game. Keonta Vernon pulls down a team-best 7.2 boards per game through 25 game and is just a tick higher in conference play at 7.3 per game.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
After slow offensive start to the game, the New Mexico State offense slow awoken and put the petal to the metal against a short-handed CSU Bakersfield team. The Aggies had a balanced attacked with 11-of-13 players that saw the floor scoring. The defense shined as well, holding CSUB's Damiyne Durham to just 11 points while
Zach Lofton posted a game-high 14 points thanks to balanced attack.
Jemerrio Jones continues to dominate the boards, pulling down another 20-rebound game and continues to etch his name into the history books.
Â
Despite the lower than usual shooting-percentage, it was just the second time this season, NM State has knocked down 10 or more 3-pointers in back-to-back games.
Â
UP NEXT
The four-game homestand for New Mexico State comes to and end as it hits the road next week for a pair of critical road matches. Up first for the Aggies will be the Wolverines of Utah Valley, who sit in second-place behind NM State with two losses. NM State and UVU is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, Feb. 15, before squaring off against Seattle U on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. Both games can be seen on the WAC Digital Network.
