LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State softball team begins Western Athletic Conference play on the road as the NM State squad travels to UMKC this weekend. The Aggies face the Roos in a single game at 5 p.m. MT on Friday, March 30, before taking on the team in a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.

POWER PLAY
NM State has four wins against Power-5 opponents this season. The team opened the season with a doubleheader victory against then-No. 17 Kentucky. The Aggies also defeated Big 12 opponent Texas Tech 3-1 in a midweek contest on the road. Minnesota was New Mexico State's latest victim when the team took down the Gophers 3-0 in the series opener on March 16.

Rachel Rodriguez ranks in the NM State career record book top-five for hits (226), triples (11), stolen bases (80), and stolen base attempts (89).
Kelsey Horton also joins the Aggie greats with 40 career home runs, and 323 total bases ranking the junior fifth all-time in both categories. She also posts eight sacrifice flies, which puts her in a tie for fourth place.
WEEKLY WARRIOR
For the second time this season,
Fahren Glackin received the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week honor. The senior played an important role in the Aggies' victory over Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico last week. She hit .500 with a double, a triple, and four RBI in a 12-7 win over the Lobos. Both of Glackin's hits were for extra bases as she posted her fourth double and third triple of the season in the victory. She finished the contest slugging 1.250 and posting a .667 on-base percentage as she was also hit by a pitch twice.
LAST TIME OUT
New Mexico State completed the season sweep of UTEP when the team took down the Miners 8-6 and 8-0 on Tuesday.
Kayla Green and
Analise De La Roca picked up the wins in the circle for the Aggies. Green pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just two hits while striking out three Miner batters. De La Roca pitched a complete game, posting three strikeouts and giving up just four hits in the victory. Horton and
Victoria Castro each had a home run in the 8-0 run-rule victory. Rodriguez recorded her 11
th triple of her career in the doubleheader which moved the senior into sole possession of second place all-time in the NM State career record books.
KNOW YOUR FOE: UMKC
UMKC comes into the series with a 10-22 overall record and a 0-3 record at home this season. The Roos enter league play ranked fifth in the conference with a .268 batting average and sixth in team ERA with 5.77.
In the circle, Lynsey Conner posted a team best 4-9 record while also holding a 6.21 ERA. Junior Olivia Fluehr has tallied a .299 hitting clip this season while also posting a 5.20 ERA and a 3-6 record in the circle. Fluehr also leads UMKC with 26 RBI and six homers. Kelsey Goodwin, a WAC Preseason Team selection, is batting 245 with 23 hits which includes five doubles, two triples and a homer.
COMING UP: BATTLE OF I-25
Following the series with the Roos, New Mexico State returns home to host Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico for a midweek contest on Tuesday, April 3. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m. MT.
