LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Early offensive power from the Aggie bats led to a 15-2 run-ruling of Chicago State in seven innings Friday night at Presley Askew Field for the New Mexico State baseball team.

Despite high winds dispersed throughout most of the game, NM State ace Kyle Bradish tossed six innings of work and gave up just two runs, one earned, on six hits with three walks and five punch outs – moving the junior to 5-1 on the year.

The Aggie (21-13, 7-3 WAC) offense got going early scoring four runs on back-to-back doubles from Caleb Henderson and Tristen Carranza. That second double from Carranza ran Chicago State's (5-25, 0-10 WAC) starter off the mound before an inning-ending double play.

After a quick inning from Bradish, the Aggies tacked on three more runs thanks to some small ball and gave the righty a 7-0 cushion.

A quiet inning in the third by both squads gave way to the fourth frame where NM State broke the game open. Five drawn walks and four hits later in the bottom half of the fourth inning saw the Aggies plate seven for the 14-0 advantage.

Bradish came back out to pitch the next two frames despite the long inning for NM State and needed just 14 pitches to get through the fifth. Chicago State didn't give up despite the 14-0 Aggie lead and plated two runs in the top of the sixth before Bradish picked up his fifth strikeout of the game to end the inning.

New Mexico State got back a run in its home-half of the inning before Chance Hroch came in to relieve the Aggie starter. Hroch worked a 1-2-3 inning in relief and got the last two batters to whiff and end the game.

The Aggies and Cougars return to the field Saturday, April 13, afternoon for a 2:05 first pitch. Fans can catch the game on 91.5 FM KRUX with Adam Young (@youngpbp) on the call or watch on the WAC Digital Network by going to www.wacsports.com/live.
