ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's golf team concluded play at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on the UNM Championship Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon. Following the two-day, 54-hole event, the Aggies fired a 315-298-299—912 (+48) and finished in 14h out of 16 teams.
Individual play on the NM State squad was led by
Pun Chanachai who shot an 82-71-69—222 (+6) to finish in a tie for 37
th. At tournament's end, Chanachai had a team-high 12 birdies that was good for third among the entire field.
Dominique Galloway followed in a tie for 52
nd after firing a 77-71-77—225 (+9).
Tiegan Taylor came in a tie for 75
th with totals of 76-77-80—233 (+17).
Angela Xu finished with an 82-79-78—239 (+23) that put the golfer in 86
th and
Kehler Koss rounded out the starting lineup at 0-87-75—242 (+26) and tied for 89
th.
Maria Prado, competing as an individual, 76-74-80—230 (+14) that saw the golfer tie for 70
th.
At the conclusion of play at the Dick McGuire Invitational, No. 13 Kent State finished in first place with a team score of 858 (-6), followed by Pepperdine in second at 863 (-1) and San Diego State rounded out the top-three at 866 (+2).
The New Mexico State women's golf team now heads to Fort Collins, Colo. for the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, Sept. 17-19. NM State won the Ram Classic in 2017 with a team score of 278 (-10) and saw a second round score of 63 (-9) for Chanachai set a new course, program and WAC-record.
