LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State cross country teams hosted the Lori Fitzgerald Open at the NMSU Track and intramural fields on Saturday. The men's team placed third in the 7k race while the women's squad took home fourth in the 5k race.
For the men's team,
Anthony Molina (22:35.19) led the squad followed by
Iley Bruce (23:05.69) for seventh and eighth place, respectively.
Abel Ketema took 12
th when he recorded a time of 23:36.13 and
James McLain followed in 13
th with a time of 23:36.52. The fifth finisher for the NM State squad was
Dylan Godfrey, who posted a time of 24:15.24 to place 21
st.
Jess Dominguez led the women's team, clocking in at 18:16.65 for ninth place in the 5k race.
Julia Yescas followed in 13
th, posting a time of 18:22.97 and
Corinne Hanson took home 16
th with a time of 18:43.18.
Nichole Gomez (18:59.04) and
Leah Salazar (19:08.88) rounded out the Aggies in the top-20, finishing in 18
th and 19
th, respectively.
Cross Country heads to the Golden State for the team's next meet when the Aggies travel to Sacramento State for the Capital Challenge on Sept. 29.
