FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The New Mexico State women's golf team finished strong on the final day of action at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Wednesday at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic. The Aggies saved their best day for last shooting a 286 (-2) and made the biggest jump up the team leaderboard to finish in fourth place with a three-day score of 890 (+26).
A pair of NM State golfers finished in the top-20, led by
Dominique Galloway who fired a consistent 71-72-71—214 (-2) to finish in a tie for third. Galloway also led the field with 37 holes for par and also recorded a tournament-best seven-under on par-5 holes.
Pun Chanachai surged on her final day with a personal-best round of 70 (-2) on day three of the event to finish at 222 (+6) and tie for 19
th.
Kehler Koss finished with a team-high 11 birdies, good for third across the tournament field, and shot a 78-76-74—228 (+12) to finish in a tie for 35
th.
Maria Prado followed just one stroke behind firing a 77-80-72—229 (+13) to tie for 39
th and
Tiegan Taylor rounded out the starters in a tie for 44
th with scores of 79-78-73—230 (+14).
Angela Xu, competing as an individual, rattled off a 74-79-80—233 (+17) to finish in 54
th.
At the end of the Ram Classic, Boise State took home the 2018 championship with a team score of 879 (+15), followed by Nevada in second at 881 (+17) and Nebraska finished in third place shooting 888 (+24).
The New Mexico State women's golf squad now returns to the City of Crosses to host the Aggie Invitational, Oct. 8-10, on the NMSU Golf Course.
