LAS VEGAS – The NM State women's golf team put forth an impressive showing on the opening day of The Clash at Boulder Creek at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas. NM State ended the day at 13 under par (563) after shooting a 277 (-11) in the second round to enter the final 18 holes just three strokes off of the lead held by host Northern Arizona.
After missing the last two tournaments while competing at the LPGA Q School qualifying rounds, senior
Emma Bunch returned to the Aggie lineup in a big way. The native of Lynge, Denmark, posted a 71 (-1) in the opening round before submitting a 67 (-5) in the second round to close out the day in a tie for second place. Bunch's second round included an eagle on the 16
th hole to make her one of seven players in the field to record an eagle on the par-5 that measured 540 yards on Monday.
Fellow senior Isa Laulhé also had an inspiring performance, shooting a 70 (-2) in the morning and then returned to shoot 69 (-3) to close out the day. Alexandria Armandariz came in just behind Laulhé as her day was capped off by a 69 (-3) to leave her in a tie for 11
th after 36 holes.
Rylee Salome carded a pair of 72s to finish the day at even par, leaving her in a tie for 25
th.
Sophia Luna posted rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2) to finish three over for the day and in a tie for 47
th.
Frederika Rychtarikova also competed as an individual and ended the day at eight over to enter Tuesday in a tie for 76
th.
On the day, the Aggies were a combined two-under on the par 3s to pace the field. This was fueled by
Alexandria Armendariz who shot three-under for the day. The Aggie squad also shot an impressive 17-under on the course's par 5s to clear the field by seven strokes in this category. On the par 5s,
Emma Bunch shot six-under to lead the field, while
Sophia Luna shot five-under and Isa Laulhé was four under. In total, NM State tallied 41 birdies to finish ranked second in the field for the day.
