LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's golf team opens its 2018-19 season at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on the UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M. from Sept. 10-11. The season opening tournament is hosted by Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico and the field consists of 14 other teams, including three within the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll Top-25.
Joining NM State and UNM on the links is California, UC Davis, Central Arkansas, No. 23 Colorado, Fresno State, Idaho, Iowa, Iowa State, No. 13 Kent State, UNLV, No. 11 Northwestern, Pepperdine, San Diego State and Washington State.

Maria Prado is set to compete as an individual.
The two-day, 54-hole invitational is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. MT for the first two rounds of play on Sept. 10, followed by the final round on Sept. 11 also beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30. Live scoring for the tournament can be followed on

Tournament play is to take place at the UNM Championship Golf Course, which is a par-72, 6,317-yard layout. The course has been nationally recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the top-25 public courses in the country and was home to the 1950, 1976, 1992 and 1998 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships as well as the sight of the women's NCAA tournament in 1987.
Following the Dick McGuire Invitational, the New Mexico State women's golf team heads to Fort Collins, Colo. for the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, Sept. 17-19. NM State won the Ram Classic in 2017 with a team score of 278 (-10) and saw a second round score of 63 (-9) for Chanachai set a new course, program and WAC-record.
