RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The New Mexico State women's golf team wrapped up its first event of the spring at the Mission Hills Invite. The one-round tournament saw NM State's
Pun Chanachai capture the fifth individual title of her career, tying current LPGA golfer and former Aggie Alena Sharp for the most in school history.
Chanachai tied with Idaho's Vicky Tsai for the individual championship and the pair were the only golfers to shoot under-par firing a 71 (-1) at the end of the 18-hole event. This is the second year in a row Chanachai has won the Mission Hills Invite after shooting a two-under, 70, as a sophomore in 2018.
Dominique Galloway followed behind in a tie for third shooting a 74 (+2).
Aggies
Maria Prado and
Tiegan Taylor tied for 22
nd with each golfer finishing with an 81 (+9) at the end of one round.
Angela Xu and
Kehler Koss rounded out the NM State squad tying for 26
th with each firing an 84 (+12).
With the Mission Hills Invitational all wrapped up, the New Mexico State women's golf squad now gets set for the Rebel/Beach Invitational at the Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas, Nev. from Feb. 18-19.
