ATLANTA – Coming off a record year of royalties earned through its trademark licensing program, New Mexico State University has extended its partnership with CLC, its exclusive licensing agent.
New Mexico State and CLC have had a successful partnership since 1987. Over the past three years alone, royalties have increased 82%. Growth has come from several product categories, including licensed consumables, non-apparel products, and t-shirts.
The consumables category was boosted by Pistol Pete's 1888 Ale through Bosque Brewing, which has generated incremental revenue the past two years with sales and distribution of the beer continuing to grow. Sales of non-apparel items such as school supplies, housewares, and tailgate items are up 90% over the last five years; whereas t-shirt royalties were up 80% over the past three years.
"We are pleased to continue working with CLC to grow and expand the New Mexico State brand into new product categories and markets,"
Mario Moccia, New Mexico State Director of Athletics, said. "CLC has helped us develop innovative programs and merchandise to meet the needs of our passionate Aggies fan base."
New Mexico State recently participated in CLC's Hispanic Heritage Collection, which provides merchandise designed by acclaimed lifestyle artists with Hispanic influence. The University hosted a live mural painting with artist Jari "Werc" Alvarez who created a new work on a mobile canvas as it traveled around campus from the tailgate zone to the stadium. New Mexico State's Hispanic Heritage Collection merchandise was also featured a stadium pop-up store next to the mural.
"New Mexico State University is committed to innovative product development and marketing to grow its brand," John Greeley, SVP of Partnerships for CLC, said. "We are excited to extend our long-term partnership as we continue to help the University connect with its consumers."
More than 150 retailers currently carry New Mexico State University licensed merchandise.
