BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Two Aggie competitors sit in the leaderboard's top 10 after the opening round at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
Senior
Pun Chanachai and freshman
Alison Gastelum both shot a two-over-par 74 in the first round at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The duo is tied for eighth place after Sunday's action.Â
NM State sits alone in sixth place as a team, thanks in part to the efforts of Chanachai and Gastelum. The Aggies came in at 20-over-par 308 overall, putting them 12 strokes back of first-place San Francisco (296, +8).
Sophomore
Amelia McKee and senior
Dominique Galloway, meanwhile, are both tied for 58th at eight-over-par 80. Junior
Kehler Koss rounded out an overall nice day for the NM State fivesome, firing a nine-over-par 81 to tie for 69th.
The second round of play picks up at 9 a.m. MT tomorrow. The third and final round is set to begin 9 a.m. Tuesday.
