LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies are champions yet again.
The NM State women's golf team claimed both the team and individual titles at the Aggie Invitational Wednesday, dominating the course and field en route to a 33-stroke victory. It is the second tournament title that the Aggies have won this season, previously taking home the trophy at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.Â
Sophomore
Amelia McKee earned her first collegiate win, finishing at five-under-par 211 to claim the individual title. She came back with a three-under-par 69 one day after firing a career-best five-under-par 67 in the second round.
The entire Aggie fivesome finished in the top 25. Senior
Dominique Galloway placed second at one-under-par 215, while freshman
Alison Gastelum came in at two-over-par 218, tying for fifth.Â
Senior
Pun Chanachai, meanwhile, tied for 12th at four-over-par 220, and junior
Kehler Koss finished tied for 14th at six-over-par 222.
The Aggies finished at three-under-par 861 overall. Second-place Utah Valley came in at 30-over-par 894.
NM State closes out its fall season at the end of October. The Aggies will travel to Boulder City, Nev., to compete in the UNLV Collegiate Showdown from Oct. 27-29.
