LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State football running back
Christian Gibson will have an opportunity to showcase his talents in front of NFL scouts, player personnel staff, general managers and head coaches.
Â
The draft-eligible redshirt senior has accepted an invitation to the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl. The contest is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2020, at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, Fla., and will be televised on FloFootball.
Â
Gibson appeared in 39 contests in his time at NM State, rushing for 1,080 yards (5.4 avg.) and nine touchdowns in his career. He led the Aggies in rushing yards in 2018 with 590 and averaged a team-best 6.1 yards per carry.Â
Â
The native of Dallas, Texas, carried the ball 99 times for 489 yards and three scores during the 2019 campaign. He scored rushing touchdowns in each of the final three contests of the year, breaking loose for 115 yards and a score in NM State's 41-28 win against UIW.
Gibson is now the third Aggie to earn an invitation to a postseason all-star game. Fellow running back
Jason Huntley and defensive back
Ray Buford Jr. accepted their invites to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl earlier this month, marking the first time in program history that NM State will send two student-athletes to the game.
