LAS VEGAS – The New Mexico State men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision Friday afternoon to host UNLV at the Ferttita Tennis Complex.

NM State (2-1) took one match in doubles action on court No. 3 thanks to
Luis Flores and
Nicolas Buitrago, who bested the Rebels' Richard Solberg and Zach Garner 6-4. However, UNLV took courts No. 1 and No. 2 over the Aggies for the doubles point. However,
Louis Menard and
Enrique Asmar gave their counterparts a run for their money and tied the match up at 5-5 before ultimately falling 7-5.

UNLV (2-0) picked up its second point over the Aggies in singles action when Asmar was bested on court No. 4 6-2, 6-2 before Flores was taken down in the same manner. Menard recorded New Mexico State's lone point on court No. 2 after roaring back down a set to defeat Eric Samuelsson 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. But, the Rebels were too much for NM State and clinched the match at the No. 5 singles position when
Mauri Benitez was defeated by Clayton Alenik 7-6, 6-4.

Stijn De Haan was down a point in the third set at the top singles slot when the match was halted after clawing back in the second set. Freshman
Martin Simecek took the first set over his opponent on court No. 3 but was down 5-1 in the third set.

NM State will need to turn its focus towards Saturday, where it'll take on Weber State at 11 a.m. (MT) before facing UC Riverside in the afternoon at 3 p.m.
