LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a couple thrilling road victories last week, the league-leading New Mexico State men's basketball team returns home to the friendly confines of the Pan American Center for a four-game homestand, beginning with Utah Valley on Thursday, Feb. 14.
 
Adam Young (@youngpbp) will have the call alongside former Neil McCarthy assistant Rus Bradburd (@RusBradburd) on the broadcast between the Aggies and Wolverines.

UPCOMING PROMOTION

For Saturday's game, several members of the championship teams from the 1960s will be on hand as New Mexico State commemorates those conference titles with a new banner inside the Pan Am. In addition, Saturday's contest against Seattle U will be the annual Pack the Pan Am game.  
 
GETTING STREAKY
Through games on Feb. 11, NM State's 13-game win-streak in conference play is tied with Loyola (Chicago), Michigan, North Carolina A&T and Tennessee for the third-best win-streak in the nation. Bucknell and Houston sit at 17-straight to lead the country while Buffalo and South Dakota State check in with 15-straight victories in league play.
 
Through games on Feb. 10 per the NCAA, NM State's nine-game win-streak and nine-game win-streak in league play is tied for the sixth-longest streak in the nation. Meanwhile, its nine-game win-streak at home is tied for the 14th-longest streak in the NCAA. Lastly, the five-consecutive road victories is good for third-most in the country as well.
 
MASTERMINDS
Head coach Chris Jans is eighth-best in the country when given three-plus days of game prep against an opponent, winning 79-percent of those games (38-10), in the KenPom Era.

WOLVERINES WELCOMED IN LAS CRUCES
With the win in Orem on Jan. 19, New Mexico State leads the all-time series against Utah Valley 8-3 and 4-1 when playing in the Pan American Center. The Wolverines are 16-7 overall on the year and 5-3 in conference play. UVU rescheduled its game against Seattle U last weekend due to weather and will face the Redhawks on Feb. 26 to make it up.
 
When the two last squared off, NM State came back from trailing 39-33 at the half  to secure the 83-78 win and snapped Utah Valley's 22-game home win-streak after a furious rally in the second-half that saw them outscore the Wolverines 50-39.
 
Jake Toolson leads the team in the scoring column, averaging 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds to go with his .576 shooting clip. His cousin, Connor Toolson is the other leading scorer on the team, checking in at 13.0 points per game with a team-high 36 steals. Baylee Steele paces the team on the glass with 6.9 rebounds per game while TJ Washington leads the team in assists with 92.
 
Since the start of WAC play, J. Toolson has bumped his scoring up a bit to the tune of 17.6 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game with a steady shooting clip of .566. T. Toolson is just under the double-digit mark at 9.8 points per game. Baylee upped his scoring prowess in conference action, posting a 9.4 points average and 6.3 rebounding average. The biggest note for UVU in league play is that eight players are averaging 8.3 points or better.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The much anticipated battle between New Mexico State and Grand Canyon on Saturday, Feb. 9, lived up to the hype with both teams battling back-and-forth in the final 20 minutes of action before the Aggies walked away victorious 67-64 to secure a two-game lead in the WAC standings.
 
Up 35-33 at the half thanks to put-back from Eli Chuha, NM State saw Grand Canyon blitzed the Aggies with an 8-0 run to take the 41-35 lead and forced an Aggie timeout 2:29 into the frame. Not in unfamiliar territory, New Mexico State slowly picked away at the deficit and took a 45-44 lead after back-to-back baskets from Trevelin Queen – Thursday night's hero – that included a huge two-handed jam.
 
The Lopes tied things up twice at 45-45 and then again at 47-47 before NM State went up 62-53 thanks to four-consecutive 3-pointers from Terrell Brown – including a 30-footer as time expired to cap it off with 3:15 left to play. Eli Chuha put the game away in the final 1:32, hitting of 5-of-8 from the charity stripe.
 
UP NEXT
The Aggies remain at home and entertain Seattle U for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 16, as part of the Pack the Pan Am promotion. NM State leads the all-time series against the Redhawks 14-3 and is 7-0 when playing SU at home.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
NM State will have a short turnaround after Saturday's game against Seattle U as it completes the non-conference schedule with a Tuesday, Feb. 19, night game against Texas A&M – International at 7 p.m. (MT). Tuesday's midweek game will also serve as 3.0 night for Aggie Athletics.
