ROUNDING UP THE DUSTDEVILS
Tuesday's game against Texas A&M International is the first meeting between the Dustdevils and Aggies. TAMIU is 5-18 on the year and 2-9 in Heartland Conference play under the direction of Joel Taylor, who is in his first season at the helm after serving as an assistant.

Xabier Gomez leads the team in scoring with a 16.2 points average on top of his 4.5 rebounding average. He also paces the squad with 46 steals and second on the team with 48 assists. Brent Finn is the only other Dustdevil to average in double-figures, posting 14.1 points per game and a .403 shooting clip. Gomez's 16.2 scoring average is fifth best in the Heartland Conference while Finn's 14.1 points average is good for 10th in the league.

Steven Clouanges is next on the scoring column, checking it with an 8.8 points average and 6.0 rebounds per game. Damon Leach is averaging a team-high 7.0 rebounds to go with his 11 blocks.

TAMIU is currently on an eight-game losing streak. Its last win came on Jan. 17 at Oklahoma Christian 58-53. As a team, the Dustdevils are averaging 58.7 points while pulling in 30.4 boards per game.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies took a while to wake up in this past Saturday's game against Seattle U and rallied back from a 13-point deficit to defeat the Redhawks 59-53. Trevelin Queen led the Aggies with 13 points, five boards and six blocks. AJ Harris chipped in with 12 points, three boards and three assists.

Despite shooting just 30.4-percent after 20 minutes of action, NM State trailed Seattle U 29-22 at the break. It wasn't until the under 12 media timeout in the second half (11:24) that the Aggie defense and offense started to click. Down 40-34, a 16-9 rally ensued by NM State to give them the 40-49 lead on a 3-pointer from Clayton Henry forced a Redhawk timeout.

That timeout, however, was too little too late as NM State's engine began to run at full speed and never relinquished that lead. In the last 5:07 of action, New Mexico State held Seattle U to just one made field-goal while also drawing two huge charges and two blocks late down the stretch.
UP NEXT
New Mexico State will get a chance to clinch a share of the regular-season title this upcoming Saturday, Feb. 23, when it plays host to UT Rio Grande Valley. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. (MT) on the WAC Digital Network.

LOOKING AHEAD
NM State will take the road for the final time in the regular-season the following week when it travels east to take on Kansas City (Feb. 28) and Chicago State (March 2). The Aggies and Roos are set to tip-off at 5 p.m. (MT) in the Swinney Recreation Center on ESPN+ while NM State and Chicago State is slated to tip at 1 p.m. (MT) in the Jones Convocation Center.
