SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The New Mexico State women's golf team wrapped up the first round of the Bruin/Wave Invitational on Monday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. Through one round the Aggies have shot a 307 (+19) and sit in a tie for eighth out of 15 teams, ahead of three top-50 teams and Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico.
At the end of the first round,
Dominique Galloway who fired a three-over, 75, and sits in a tie for 17th has led the NM State squad. This was followed by
Pun Chanachai who carded a 76 (+4) and heads into the final day tied for 27
th. At the end of round one, Galloway and Chanachai lead the squad with five birdies apiece.
Heading into the conclusion of the tournament, the Aggies final three golfers -
Kehler Koss,
Maria Prado and
Tiegan Taylor – are all tied for 38
th after shooting a 78 (+6). The Aggie squads most successful play so far in the tournament has been on the Par 3 with the team averaging a 3.25, good for eighth in the field.
The conclusion of day one sees No. 14 Northwestern atop the team leaderboard after posting a team score of 295 (+7), followed by No. 42 Oregon in second at 296 (+8) and host No. 4 UCLA rounds out the top-three shooting a 298 (+10).
Play at the Bruin/Wave Invitational is set to wrap up with the conclusion of the second round and the third and final set of 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. MT on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Live scoring for the entire event can be followed on
