TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team dropped a tough match to Arizona on the road, 7-0, Saturday at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

Doubles action started in favor of the Wildcats (4-1) as they took the match on court No. 1 (6-2) and court No. 3 (6-3) in succession to clinch the early 1-0 lead.

NM State (4-2) went down 2-0 after the start of singles action when
Martin Simecek was taken down on court No. 3 6-1, 6-3.
Enrique Asmar was the next Aggie to fall, this time on court No. 5, before Arizona clinched the match at the No. 2 singles position 6-3, 6-3 over
Louis Menard – his first loss of the dual season.

Mauri Benitez took the first set over UA's Aaro Pollanen 7-6 but dropped the second set 6-0 and lost the tiebreaker 10-5 with the match already clinched. The same went for NM State's No. 1 singles player,
Stijn de Haan, who took the first set before falling in a tiebreaker 5-7, 7-6, 10-8.

NM State will now get some time off before heading to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the H-E-B Tournament of Champions (Feb. 22-23).
