EL PASO, Texas – New Mexico State track and field completed the UTEP Springtime from Kidd Field. A pair of Aggies took home first place finishes during competition on Saturday.
Yemisi Oroyinyin came away with the gold in the shot put when she threw 14.35m (47-1) on her final attempt.
Sam Ponds followed in second when she recorded a mark of 13.01m (42-8.25).
Taniya Mitchell (12.92m; 42-4.75) and
Bristol O'Connor (11.94m; 39-2.25) placed third and fourth, respectively, while
Emily Hernandez (11.38m; 37-4) rounded out the New Mexico State throwers with an eighth place finish.
Elizabeth Mendoza claimed first in the 400m hurdles when she ran 1:05.00. In the 100m hurdles,
Arniesha Mitchell took fourth when she posted a time of 15.12. She also placed eighth in the 100m when she clocked in at 13.03.
Takiyah Johnson finished in second in the 200m when she finished with a time of 25.27.
Lanie Whelpley (25.57) and
Keosha Sanders (25.73) placed fourth and sixth, respectively in the race.
Moselle De Los Santos ran 1:02.03 in the 400m to claim fourth.
Crissey Amberg took second in the 800m when she clocked in at 2:16.95.
Leah Salazar (2:25.99) and
Nicolette Pacheco (2:28.92) followed closely behind the redshirt senior, placing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Jess Dominguez was the top finisher for NM State in the mile when she clocked in at 5:21.51 for third.
Richelle Sandin was the next runner to finish, posting a time of 5:23.46.
Kelli Kirkpatrick (5:34.30) and
Michaela Romero (5:35.48) came in fifth and sixth, respectively.
In the 3,000m, the Aggies claimed the top three spots with
Ocean Stevens leading the way with a time of 11:20.33.
Regina Marquez (11:22.94) finished in second while
Francis Hernandez (11:33.00) took third.
Hannah Smith finished in third in the triple jump, posting a mark of 5.51m (18-1.).
Andi Harrelson came away with third in the javelin throw when she recorded a mark of 41.31m (135-6).
Kimberly Salinas (37.46m; 122-11) and
Alyssa Covarrubia (35.96m; 118-0) finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.

NM State is back in action when the team takes on top competition at the Fearless Champions Open in Lubbock, Texas. The two-day meet is set be begin on Friday, March 22 and is hosted by Texas Tech.
