LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State track and field team travels to Lubbock, Texas, for the Fearless Champion Open from March 22-23. The two-day meet takes place at Fuller Track and Field and is hosted by Texas Tech.
In the first meet of the outdoor season,
Taniya Mitchell came away with a first-place finish in the hammer throw when she posted a personal best mark of 54.46m (178-8).
Yemisi Oroyinyin took first in the shotput when she threw 14.35m (47-1). On the track,
Crissey Amberg placed second in the 800m, clocking in at 2:16.95 in the race.
The Fearless Champion Open is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. MT with the men's javelin with the women's event following. Saturday's events begin with the women's discus, long jump, high jump and 3,000m steeplechase beginning at noon. Fans can follow along with the live results courtesy of
