THIBODUAX, La. – The NM State men's tennis team marched its way through Nicholls State Tuesday afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex with a 5-0 victory.

NM State's (9-8) top pair of
Stijn de Haan and
Mauri Benitez kicked things off with a 6-4 win before
Nicolas Buitrago and
Luis Flores finished off their counterparts from Nicholls State (4-8) on court No. 3 for the 6-4 win and doubles point.

Benitez was the first to wrap things up in singles action when he bested Dylan Loru 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 3. Buitrago followed up with a 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 position before
Louis Menard picked up a 7-5, 6-3 win – his first at the top singles slot with the absence of de Haan to clinch the match. Flores concluded his match within a minute of Menard with a 6-1, 7-5 defeat of Alvaro Barranco on court No. 6.

New Mexico State now returns home for a trio of matches as it plays host to the first Western Athletic Conference pod beginning this Friday, March 29, at the NM State Tennis Center. The Aggies are scheduled to first take on UT Rio Grande Valley (March 29) at 1 p.m. (MT) before playing Chicago State at 9 a.m. on Saturday and finish with Kansas at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
