LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State track and field competes in a pair of meets in the Lone Star State this week. The Aggies take on top competition at the Texas Relays from Austin, Texas, while also facing off against elite opponents at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas. Both meets are set to begin on Thursday, March 28.
NM State looks to carry its momentum after posting impressive performances at the Fearless Champion Open in Lubbock, Texas, last weekend.
Asjah Wallace set the program record in the 100m hurdles (13.72) while also posting a time of 1:01.12 in the 400m hurdles, which ranks second all time.
Keosha Sanders' time of 11.65 in the 100m ranks first in the Western Athletic Conference.
Field events at the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Texas State, begin with the women's discus at 10 a.m. MT on Thursday. The women's long jump, hammer throw and high jump start at noon on Friday while the javelin headlines Saturday's field events at 8 a.m. On the track, the women's 100m is the first event on Friday at 4 p.m. while the 4x100m relay is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
At the Texas Relays on Thursday, the women's hammer throw starts at 10 a.m. and the 400m hurdles is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. On Friday, the 4x100m relay takes place at 8:35 a.m. with the 100m hurdles following the event.
