Aggies Excel During Second Day of Competition

NM State continued its run at the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational on Friday.

 
AUSTIN, Texas – New Mexico State track and field continued its run at the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational on Friday. The team recorded impressive performances, including personal records, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium and the Bobcat Track and Field Complex.
 
Keosha Sanders competed at the Texas Relays in the 100m, posting a time of 11.82 to place 33th. Coming in 49th was Lashira Tremble, who ran 11.89 in the event.
 
The 4x100m relay team of Sanders, Tremble, Asjah Wallace and Brooke Wallace came in 19th when the squad ran 46.61. The 4x400m relay of A. Wallace, B. Wallace, Takiyah Johnson and Lanie Whelpley clocked in at 3:51.14 for 27th place.
 
At the Bobcat Invitational, Keyarha Wilson came in third in the high jump when she recorded a mark of 1.65m (5-5). In the long jump, Hannah Smith placed 14th when she jumped 5.59m (18-4).

Taniya Mitchell came away as the top NM State finisher in hammer throw, posting a mark of 54.82m (179-10), a new personal record, when she placed 13th. Yemisi Oroyinyin finished in 17th with a throw of 51.65m (169-5). Alyssa Watkins (49.99m, 164-0) took home 20th while Emily Hernandez (48.76m, 159-11) placed 24th. Bristol O'Connor rounded out the Aggies with a throw of 43.88m (143-11) to finish in 29th.
 
Whelpley came in 18th in the 400m, clocking in at 57.43. Elizabeth Mendoza (59.36) and Moselle De Los Santos (1:00.00) placed 36th and 42nd, respectively in the event.  In the 1,500m run, Elana Kresl clocked in at 4:44.50 to take 14th place while Leah Salazar came in 17th when she posted a time of 4:49.05.
 
Julia Yescas took third in the 5,000m, running a time of 17:22.47. Corinne Hanson (17:41.27) and Crissey Amberg (17:46.90) followed closely behind in fourth and fifth, respectively. Richelle Sandin posted a time of (18:16.58) for 13th while Kelli Kirkpatrick rounded out the NM State runners, recording a time of 18:44.74 to come in 18th place.
