LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Former New Mexico State guard
Brooke Salas received an invitation to the ProHoops Combine in Tampa, Fla., on April 6. Â
Â
The ProHoops combine is an invitation-only combine for top college seniors. It gives athletes the opportunity to be evaluated by WNBA and foreign coaches and General Managers.
Â
"I'm really excited for this opportunity," said Salas. "I am very fortunate that I have the chance to continue playing even after my college career is over. This combine is a great place for me to get exposure and continue doing what I love."
Â
The Placentia, Calif., native led the 2018-19 squad in points (19.1), rebounds (11.1), blocks (1.6) and steals (2.5) as she was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second-straight season.
At the conclusion of the 2018-19 season, she became the first player in Western Athletic Conference history to win both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in the same season.
Â
Her 2018-19 season was one for the record books as she posted 21 double-doubles on the year as she posted top-10 single-season performances in a number of categories. Her 367 rebounds rank third, while she ranks fifth in blocks (54), seventh in steals (83) and sixth in field goals made (242).
Â
Salas wrapped up her career in the crimson and white as the program's second all-time leading scorer with 1,931 points. During her career, Salas also earned First-Team All-WAC honors in three-consecutive seasons (2016-19) and was named to the WAC All-Defensive team following her junior and senior campaigns. She wrapped up her Aggie career as the school's all-time leader in blocks (156), fifth in rebounds (953), third in steals (233) and third in field goals made (742).
Â
In addition to her individual accolades, Salas was a proven winner during her time in the Mesilla Valley. The guard guided the Aggies to four-straight WAC regular season titles and three NCAA Tournament Appearances.
