PEARLAND, Texas – The New Mexico State men's golf team completed play at the two-day, three-round Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday at the Golfcrest Country Club. At the end of 54 holes the Aggies carded a team score of 297-296-297—890 (+26) to finish in 12
th place.
Among the NM State golfers,
Mike McGilton led the squad firing a 75-69-76—220 (+4) to tie for 22
nd. This was followed two strokes behind by
Cameron Gambini who shot a 77-73-72—222 (+6). McGilton and Smith led the Aggies and tied for fourth in the tournament field with a par 3 score of 2.75 (-1).
Tadhg Campbell posted a 71-78-74—223 (+7) to tie for 37
th and also led the squad with four birdies.
Ryo Harada tie for 43
rd shooting a 74-76-75—225 (+9) and
Cameron Gambini rounded out the Aggie lineup in 82
nd at 78-83-84—245 (+29).
At tournament's end, Sam Houston State took home first place atop the team leaderboard with a score of 862 (-2), followed by UT San Antonio in second place at 868 (+4), while Texas State and UT Arlington tie for third at 870 (+6).
Due to a pair of cancelled tournaments this season, the New Mexico State men's golf team has been able to add one final event to close out the regular season when the team travels to Provo, Utah for the BYU Cougar Classic later this week, April 19-20.
