LONG BEACH, Calif. – New Mexico State track and field started competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and concluded the single-day Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State on Thursday.
In the 3,000m steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Elana Kresl took 40
th when she ran 11:00.11, a new personal record.
Corinne Hanson placed 59
th in the event when she clocked in at 11:15.03.
For the 5,000m,
Jess Dominguez came in 12th for her heat, posting a time of 17:09.25.
Julia Yescas placed 13
th in her heat when she recorded a personal-best time of 17:19.17. The time also ranks eighth in the Aggie outdoor record books.
Richelle Sandin also competed in the event, running 18:07.75 to place 19th in her heat.
At the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate,
Leah Salazar came in tenth when she finished the 800m with a time of 2:15.75.
In the javelin,
Kayli Farmer made the event finals and placed seventh when she posted a throw of 42.53m (139-6). Also competing in the event was
Andi Harrelson, who came in 11
th when she recorded a mark of 41.10m (134-10).
Alyssa Covarrubia took 22
nd, throwing 35.72m (117-2.25)
Taniya Mitchell was the top NM State finisher in the hammer throw, taking home 13
th and posting a mark of 56.08 (184-0).
Yemisi Oroyinyin also competed in the event, finishing in 28
th with a mark of 51.45m (168-9).
Sam Ponds took 28
th in the shot put, throwing 12.99m (42-7.5) on her second attempt.
Emily Hernandez finished in 35
th when she posted a nark of 12.31m (40-4.75).
Bristol O'Connor claimed 22
nd in the discus when she threw 44.33m (145-5). Ponds also competed in the event, finishing in 25
th when she posted a mark of 42.86m (140-7).
