LONG BEACH, Calif. – New Mexico State track and field competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State on Friday.
Taniya Mitchell broke the NM State program record for the hammer throw, shattering the previous mark that was set in 2006.
At the Beach Invitational, Mitchell came in 12
th for the hammer throw, posting a mark of 59.56m (195-5).
Alyssa Watkins (54.18m, 177-9) and
Yemisi Oroyinyin (52.50m, 172-3) came in 27
th and 40
th, respectively.
Emily Hernandez finished in 70
th when she threw 47.47m (155-9).
Andi Harrelson competed in the javelin and came in 49
th when she recorded a throw of 38.38m (125-A11).
Alyssa Covarrubia also participated in the event and placed 65
th with a mark of 32.59m (106-11).
At the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Lashira Tremble was the top finisher for NM State in the 100m, clocking in at 11.79 (11.784) to take 13th.
Keosha Sanders followed closely behind in 14
th when the posted a time of 11.79 (11.790).
Tremble also compete in the 200m, running a personal-best time of 24.12 to finish in 13
th.
Takiyah Johnson (25.35) came in 76th in the event while Sanders (25.39) placed 81
st.
Camira Haughton took fifth in the 400m when she ran 53.94, a new personal best that ranked fourth in the Aggie record books.
Lanie Whelpley (56.63) and Johnson (56.70) placed 33
rd and 34
th, respectively.
Moselle De Los Santos came in 57
th when she clocked in at 58.46.
Leah Salazar ran a new personal best time of 2:15.00 in the 800m to place 83
rd at the meet.
Crissey Amberg competed in the 1,500m invitational and finished in 49th place with a time of 4:25.37. The time tied her own personal record and the program record. For the 1,500m open section,
Julia Yescas came in 71st when she ran 4:42.06.
Elana Kresl ran 4:46.74 in the event to take 105th. Nicolette Pancheco clocked in at 4:49.65 for 122
nd place.
In the 400m hurdles,
Elizabeth Mendoza clocked in at 1:04.49 to claim 36
th place in the event. For the long jump,
Hannah Smith finished in 30
th when she posted a mark of 5.68m (18-7.75).
