@NMStateSoftball Hosts Kansas City for Final Home Series

The Aggies welcome the Roos for a three-game series at the NM State Softball Complex.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State softball hosts Kansas City at the NM State Softball Complex for a Western Athletic Conference series this weekend. The Aggies take on the Roos in a single game on Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. MT. NM State closes the series against UMKC with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 4 p.m. Following the series finale, the team is set to honor its seniors in a special ceremony.

WHERE TO WATCH
Fans who can't make it to the NM State Softball Complex for the weekend series can still catch all the games on television or through live streaming. Friday's contest can be viewed on FOX Sports Arizona Plus, FOX College Sports Pacific and Eleven Sports. Fans can tune in for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader on FOX Sports Arizona Plus and FOX College Sports Pacific. Every game of the series can also be streamed on the WAC Digital Network.

ASPYN ARROWS
Prior to Saturday's doubleheader, New Mexico State alumna Lindsay Hainzinger Johnson is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Her non-profit organization Aspyn Arrows brings awareness to Sudden Infant Death syndrome (SIDS).

HORTON HITS A BOOM
Nationally, Kelsey Horton ranks first in career home runs (66), third in career total bases (489), fifth in RBI (194) and sixth for runs scored (195).

The senior continues to climb in the NM State career record books. The slugger is record holder for total bases, runs scored and home runs. Horton also ranks second in hits (243) RBI, doubles (43) and sacrifice flies (11).

WHERE IN THE WAC
As a team, NM State leads the conference in slugging percentage (.466), home runs (49), walks (131), batters struck out (255), and saves (6). In WAC play, New Mexico State posts a conference-best 33 walks and 83 batters struck out.

Individually, Horton stands as the league leader for slugging percentage (.661) and homers. Victoria Castro is first for doubles (13) while Samaria Diaz posts a WAC-best 167 strikeouts and five saves.  Against league opponents, Nikki Butler holds a conference best .500 batting average and .789 slugging percentage. Horton has a league-high eight walks while Diaz posts 62 strikeouts for first the WAC.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies picked up a run-rule victory at New Mexico, routing the Lobos 10-0 in just five innings. Diaz allowed just one hit and one walk while she tallied 11 strikeouts in the victory. NM State posted four homer in the game with Horton and Casie Roberto hitting one each and Mya Felder recording a pair.

SCOUTING THE ROOS
Kansas City comes into the weekend at 25-21 on the season with a 5-7 record in conference play. The Roos post a 2.98 ERA while batting .294 as a team. UMKC leads the league in doubles (71), triples (12), and stolen bases (86).

Chyanne Onstad leads the team with a .363 batting average with a .556 slugging percentage and 30 RBI. Sydney Garcia leads the Roos with 13 doubles on the season while Madason Shaw posts a squad best six homers. In the circle, Kailyn Packard is 7-7 with a 2.57 ERA and 125 strikeouts.

COMING UP: SENIOR SENDOFF
Following series with the Roos, New Mexico State welcomes No. 13 Texas Tech to the NM State Softball Complex for a midweek tilt. First pitch from the doubleheader on April 30 is set for 4 p.m.
