LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up the Western Athletic Conference Championship in fifth place with a score of 283-301-298—882 (+30) over three days at Oakbrook Golf Club.
Senior
Mike McGilton posted the best finish for NM State as he fired a 73-71-75—219 (+6) to finish in a tie for 14
th.
Niall Powell joined McGilton in the top-20 after posting a 72-73-77—222 (+9) over the weekend to finish tied for 20
th.
Tadhg Campbell and
Garrison Smith (+11) finished in a 24
th-place while
Ryo Harada placed 31
st (+14). Jake Chanen from GCU took home the individual title at 3-under par.
For the second straight season, Kansas City took home the team championship as it shot a 290-278-285—853 (+1). Grand Canyon (+5) placed second with Seattle U (+16) rounding out the top three.
The Aggies wrap up the 2018-19 season with four top-5 finishes on the season including a win at the Herb Wimberly Invitational. McGilton paced the team in stroke average on the year at 74.41.
