MARICOPA, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Monday at the Southern Dunes Golf Club. Through two rounds of play the Aggies have shot a 293-295—588 (+12) and are tied for second out of 20 teams.
NM State's play features two golfers sitting in the top-10 led by
Pun Chanachai who sits in first place after shooting a 67-69—136 (-8).
Dominique Galloway follows behind with an even-par 72-72—144 to sit in a tie for eighth. Chanchai and Galloway join just one other golfer in the tournament field of 108 to card an eagle on day one.
Angela Xu fired a 78-74—152 (+8) and is tied for 43
rd.
Chantal Dueringer posted a 76-80—156 (+12) to tie for 72
nd and
Kehler Koss rounds out the Aggie starting lineup in a tie for 107
th at 90-81—171 (+27).
Maria Prado, competing as an individual, is tied for 17
th at 72-75—147 (+3).
At the end of the first day, UTEP sits atop the team leaderboard at 586 (+10), followed by NM State and Santa Clara in a tie for second at 588 (+12), with Northern Colorado in fourth shooting a 589 (+13) and UC Riverside completing the top-five with a team score of 590 (+14).
The final round of action at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic begins with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, April 9. Live scoring for the entire tournament can be followed on
