Six NM State track and field athletes are set to compete the postseason meet taking place in Sacramento, Calif.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The 2019 outdoor track and field campaign continues for six individuals from New Mexico State who have officially qualified to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, the NCAA announced on Thursday. Lashira Tremble, Keosha Sanders, Camira Haughton, Crissey Amberg, Hannah Smith and Taniya Mitchell represent the Crimson and White at the postseason meet taking place at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif., from May 23-25.

Tremble and Sanders are set to compete in the 100m dash. Tremble took home the Western Athletic Conference title in the event, posting a personal-best time of 11.58 when she took home the gold. Sanders also recorded a personal-best time during the event finals, running 11.65 when she placed second in the race.

Haughton comes into the postseason meet with a personal-best time of 53.43 in the 400m. The senior placed first at the league championships and her time ranks fourth in the Aggie record books.

Amberg makes her second appearance at the NCAA West Preliminaries as the senior is set to compete in the 1,500m. She posted a personal-best time of 4:23.89 in the event at the WAC Championships, besting her own program record. During the 2017 season, Amberg qualified for the postseason meet, where she came in 38th.

Smith represents New Mexico State during the preliminary rounds for a second-straight season. The senior's new personal record of 12.82m (42-0.75) in the triple jump helped her win the event at the conference meet.

Mitchell is set to compete in the hammer throw for NM State. The senior holds the program record for the event, recording a mark of 60.96m (200-0) at the WAC Championships when she took home the title in the event.
