LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Six athletes are ready to represent New Mexico State Track and Field at the NCAA West Preliminary Round taking place May 23-25 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
Lashira Tremble is set to represent the Crimson and White in the 100m dash. Tremble took home the Western Athletic Conference title in the event, posting a personal-best time of 11.58 when she won the gold. The junior was also named the Women's High Point Athlete and the Women's Track Outstanding Athlete at the league meet.
Also running the 100m dash is
Keosha Sanders. The sprinter recorded a personal-best time during the 100m event finals at the WAC meet, running 11.65 when she placed second place in the race.
Camira Haughton enters into the postseason meet with a personal-best time of 53.43 in the 400m. The senior placed first at the league championships and her time ranks fourth in the Aggie record books.
Crissey Amberg makes her second appearance at the NCAA West Preliminary in the 1,500m race. She posted a personal-best time of 4:23.89 in the event at the WAC Championships, besting her own NM State program record.
Hannah Smith represents New Mexico State in the triple jump for a second-straight season. The senior's new personal record of 12.82m (42-0.75) in the event helped her win the individual title at the conference meet.
Taniya Mitchell is set to compete in the hammer throw for the Aggies. The senior holds the program record for the event, recording a mark of 60.96m (200-0) at the WAC Championships when she placed first in the event.
