Swedish guard set to join Aggies for title defense.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Head coach Brooke Atkinson and the New Mexico State women's basketball team has added Soufia Inoussa, Atkinson announced Tuesday.
 
"Soufia is an athletic combo-guard with huge upside," Atkinson said. "She has tremendous athleticism and length so she will fit in well with our experienced back court."
 
The Stockholm, Sweden, native attended prep school at Solna Gymnasium and played for KFUM Blackeberg. During the 2018-19 season, Inoussa helped guide Blackeberg to a Regional Championship and a third place finish in the Swedish Championship.  The 5-7 guard was also a member of Sweden's U20 squad at the Women's European Championship.
 
 Inoussa is the daughter of Adoudoul and Moumiratou Inoussa and has two sisters, Farydah and Mariam Nada, and two brothers, Gaffar and Zeidane. Her sister, Farydah, ran track at the University of New Orleans where she earned First Team All-Southland honors after the 2014-15 season.
 
NM State seeks its sixth-straight Western Athletic Conference Championship and fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in six years in 2019-20.
