SPRINGVILLE, Utah – The NM State women's golf team opened the 2019-20 season in impressive fashion with a runner-up finish at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic Tuesday.
 
The Aggies fired a 27-over-par 879 as team, sitting behind tournament champion Cal State Fullerton (878, +26) by one shot. Senior 
Pun Chanachai tied for fourth as an individual with an overall score of three-over-par 216 to lead the way for NM State.
 
Fellow senior 
Dominique Galloway and sophomore 
Amelia McKee each earned top-20 individual finishes in addition to Chanachai. Galloway tied for 12
th (219, +6), while McKee tied for 20
th (222, +9)
 
Sophomore 
Chantal Dueringer, who was tied for 29
th place through the first 36 holes, stayed right there, finishing at 11-over-par 224. Freshman 
Alex Quihuis completed her first collegiate tournament on a high note, shooting a career-best three-over-par 74 in the final round to finish at 21-over-par 234.
 
The Aggies return to action this weekend at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. The event tees off with 36 holes of golf on Sunday, Sept. 15, before the final round begins on Monday, Sept. 16.
