LOS ANGELES – The New Mexico State diving duo of
Lily Ellis and
Italia Aranzabal competed in the 3m during day two of the UCLA Diving Invitational.
Â
"Overall, today was one of Lily's more consistent meets," said diving coach
Miranda King. " For her, her first four dives were the strongest and best she has done in a competition. The hard work is really paying off. Now, we just need to continue focusing on consistency and being able to finish out a list. Italia struggled a little on her second dive but was able to finish the meet well. Again, with the level of competition here at this meet, it's difficult to take the scores at face value. At our conference meet or a dual meet, where the divers are more evenly matched, it will show with some higher scores. For the most part, I am very happy with their lists today and we will keep working and improving as we get closer to conference."
Â
Forty-nine divers were entered in the 3m event.
Lily Ellis finished 47
th with a score of 171.70 and
Italia Aranzabal came in at 33
rd with a 209.70.
