TUCSON, Ariz. - 36 holes down, 18 to go.

Freshman Trey Diehl and senior Tanvir Kahlon guided the NM State men's golf team through the opening day at the Arizona Intercollegiate Monday. Both carded top-50 finishes at the conclusion of the first two rounds of play at Sewailo Golf Club.

Diehl sits in a tie for 36th place at four-over-par 146. Kahlon is inside the top 50, as well, tying for 48th at six-over-par 148.

Senior Ryo Harada, meanwhile, fired a nine-over 151 and is tied for 59th. Freshman Aidan Thomas follows closely behind him in a tie for 69th, shooting a 12-over 154.

Sophomore Cameron Gambini rounds out the Aggies' fivesome. He fired a 16-over-par 158 and is tied for 77th.

NM State heads into tomorrow's third and final round at 31-over-par 599. Host No. 11 Arizona sits in first place at 10-under 558 and holds a six-stroke advantage over second-place No. 12 Baylor.
