LAS CRUCES, N.M. - After receiving a commitment from a backcourt player earlier in the week, the NM State men's basketball team got another from an interior star.
Saturday morning, the Aggies received word that 6-7 forward Ishan White inked a National Letter of Intent to play for NM State beginning in the 2021-22 season.
Ishan White | F | 6-7 | 215 | St. Stephen, S.C. | Berkeley High School | Chipola College | Polk State College
• The Aggies' newest 2021-22 signee will have spent the first half of his collegiate career competing in the state of Florida once 2020-21 comes to a close. White will suit up for Polk State College this season following a one-year stint at another Sunshine State junior college.
• Ranked as a three-star recruit coming out of high school, White received an offer to Oklahoma State but ultimately chose to travel to Marianna, Fla., where he suited up at Chipola College in 2019-20.
• Through his lone season in an Indians uniform, White averaged 11.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. In 13 of his 22 appearances, White generated 10 or more points and the forward finished the season with a pair of 20+ point outings. White amassed five double-doubles at Chipola, too.
• As a prep, White helped lead Berkeley High School to one of its most memorable campaigns in program history during his final season in a Stags uniform.
• Berkeley advanced to South Carolina's Class AAAAA state title bout with White on its side in 2018-19 and concluded the season with an impressive 26-2 record. Those 26 wins represented the most in program history for Berkeley HS.
• For his exemplary efforts, White collected All-State and All-Region laurels during his farewell prep campaign. As a senior, White averaged 15.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.1 assists per game.
What they're saying about White | NM State head Coach Chris Jans: "Ishan White pledging to the Aggies will help move our program forward. We began targeting Ish from the first time we saw him as a freshman. He is blessed with high-level athleticism and a frame that makes him ready for this level. We are excited he elected to join our program."
