Aggies' Season Opener at Arizona Christian Postponed

NM State will now play Firestorm on Sunday, Nov. 29

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The NM State men's basketball team's season-opening game at Arizona Christian originally scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 has been postponed it was announced Friday afternoon. NM State and Arizona Christian will now play on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 5;30 p.m. FOX Sports Arizona will still televise the third meeting between the Aggies and the Firestorm and the game will also be carried in New Mexico on channel 77 for Comcast customers. The WAC Digital Network will also stream a simulcast of the game online.

In a policy agreed upon by both teams, it was decided the players and coaches for Arizona Christian would undergo COVID-19 testing on two occasions the week of the game. While the players and coaches did undergo the testing, all of the results from both tests have not yet been received.

Out of an abundance of caution, both the Aggies and Firestorm agreed to postpone Friday's game to Sunday.

"While we are disappointed about today's news, the health and safety of our student-athletes and staff remains our top priority," commented NM State head men's basketball coach Chris Jans. "This is a minor bump in the road for our season and we are looking forward to Sunday."

NM State players, coaches and staff members have been getting tested for COVID-19 three times per week since the start of November and have zero positive cases in the month.
