@NMStateWBB Wraps Up home Slate With Pair of Conference Games

Aggies set to play in the Pan American Center for final time this season.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team is set to wrap up its home schedule when it hosts GCU on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6p.m. and CSU Bakersfield on Senior Day, Feb. 29, at 12 p.m.

Scouting the Lopes
Grand Canyon enters the weekend tied for first with Kansas City in the WAC standings with a 10-3 WAC record. In Phoenix on Feb. 1, the Lopes took down the Aggies 60-49.
 
GCU sits at seventh in the WAC in scoring offense but excels on the defensive end. The Lopes lead the WAC in scoring defense, allowing just 61.2 points per game. They also shoot the three at the best clip in the conference (.345).
 
Da'Jah Daniel has been a monster for GCU, averaging a double-double with 12.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She scored 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the first meeting between the schools. Freshman Jada Holland also averages double figures for GCU at 11.7 points per game.
 
A Look at the Runners
CSU Bakersfield sits at 7-6 and in fourth place in the WAC standings, a game in front of the Aggies. NM State missed two last-second shots in Bakersfield in a 60-59 loss on Jan. 30.
 
Bakersfield ranks sixth in scoring offense (63.1) but is second in scoring defense (62.0). The Runners are adept at forcing turnovers and lead the league in steals (9.) and rank second in turnover margin (+2.5).
 
Redshirt sophomore Jayden Eggleston is Bakersfield's leading scorer, coming in at 11.8 points per game. Ashley Austin is the only other Runner that averages double figures with 10.6 points per game.
