Scouting the Cougars
Houston is currently 12-4 and is riding a seven-game winning streak into the Boyd Gaming Classic.
 
The Cougars are a solid offensive team, ranking ninth nationally in slugging percentage (.574). Senior Sarah Queen leads the Cougars in batting average at .408. Catcher Kati Ray Brown leads the squad in home runs with six.
 
Houston has a reliable set of arms in the circle with four pitchers throwing at least 12 innings so far this season. Freshman Logan Hulon leads the team in both ERA (3.10) and innings pitched (40.2). Hulon has notched 39 strikeouts and issued 19 walks.
 
Scouting the Rebels
The Rebels are also 12-4 and are on a five-game winning streak, winning all five games at the 2020 Frost Classic.
 
Freshman Maddie Schmidt has enjoyed a stellar start to her career and is hitting .442 in 16 games. Samantha Diaz leads the team in home runs with four.
 
UNLV excels in the circle as it holds a 1.36 ERA through the first 16 games of the season. Charlie Masterson leads the team in ERA at 0.49. Jenny Bressler leads the team in innings pitched at 48.2 and holds a 1.73 Era. She has struck out 57 batters.
 
A Look at the Miners
UTEP sits at 4-10 and is coming off back-to-back wins against IUPUI and Omaha. The Aggies defeated the Miners 9-1 in five innings at the Troy Cox Classic.
 
The Miners have struggled offensively, hitting .273 as a team. Kasey Flores leads the team in both batting average (.372) and home runs (7)
 
UTEP has also struggled in the circle with a 7.97 team ERA. Isabella Kelly has seen the most action for the Miners with 52.2 innings over 10 appearances with eight starts. Kelly holds a 6.51 ERA.
