TUCSON, Ariz. – Playing in her hometown, freshman
Alex Quihuis picked up the first top-ten finish of her collegiate career and led the Aggies to a second-place team finish Tuesday at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational.
The diaper dandy came in at two-under-par 214 overall, tying for sixth place. She matched her career best with a one-under 71 in the third and final round, putting together back-to-back under-par rounds to close out the tournament.
The Tucson, Ariz., native's effort helped NM State tie for second at four-over 868. Arizona, playing on its home course, won the event with an overall score of 18-under 846.
Senior
Dominique Galloway and sophomore
Amelia McKee, meanwhile, carded top-15 finishes. Galloway tied for 12th at one-over 217, and McKee tied for 15th a four-over 220.
Senior
Pun Chanachai notched a top-25 finish, coming in at seven-over 223 and tying for 24th. Freshman
Alison Gastelum rounded out the Aggie fivesome with a 13-over 229 to tie for 46th.
Sophomore
Chantal Dueringer, competing as an individual, logged a 62nd-place finish at 21-over 237.
The Aggies next head to the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by NAU, at Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz. The tournament begins Saturday, March 21, and wraps up Sunday, March 22.
