LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies are on fire.
NM State women's golf freshman
Alex Quihuis has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after carding the first top-10 finish of her collegiate career at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, where she tied for sixth with a 2-under-par 214.
Finishing ahead of five nationally ranked individuals, Quihuis shot an even-par 72 to open the tournament before going 1-under 71 in the final two rounds. Her efforts helped lead the Aggies to a tie for second place with 15th-ranked Oregon at 4-over-par 868.
It is the second consecutive week that an Aggie women's golfer has taken home the conference's top honor. Sophomore
Amelia McKee did so last week after winning the individual title at the UTRGV Invitational.
NM State next heads to the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by NAU, at Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz. The tournament begins Saturday, March 21, and wraps up Sunday, March 22.
