MCALLEN, Texas –
Amelia McKee is in the running for the individual title at the UTRGV Invitational.
The Aggie sophomore fired a one-under 143 across the opening two rounds of action and is tied for first headed into tomorrow's final round of play. She followed up her first-round total of one-over 73 with a two-under 70 over the final 18 holes Monday at McAllen Country Club.
The Spring, Texas, native's hot start has the Aggies sitting in second place with an overall team score of 21-over 597. NM State is three shots off of Incarnate Word's lead entering the third round.
The rest of the Aggie fivesome, including
Pun Chanachai,
Alex Quihuis,
Alison Gastelum and
Dominique Galloway, also sits in the top 25 after the first day.
Chanachai is tied for 14th at seven-over 151. Freshmen Quihuis and Gastelum are tied for 16th at eight-over 152.
Galloway, meanwhile, rounds out the group at 12-over 156. The senior is tied for 24th.
Tomorrow's final round tees off at 7:30 a.m. MT.
