TUCSON, Ariz. – Freshman
Alex Quihuis is comfortable at home.
The Tuscon, Ariz., native opened the Arizona Wildcat Invitational with two steady rounds, firing a one-under-par 143 on the first day of competition.
She came in at even-par 72 in the first round before closing out the action with a one-under 71 in the second round.
Quihuis is tied for eighth and sits seven shots back of first place headed into tomorrow's final round. Arizona's Kailie Vongsaga and Vivian Hou are tied for first at eight-under 136.
Senior
Dominique Galloway and sophomore
Amelia McKee, the reigning UTRGV Invitational individual champion, are also in the top 20. Galloway sits tied for 10th at even-par 144 after firing a four-under 68 in the second round, while McKee is tied for 17th at four-over 148.
Freshman
Alison Gastelum and senior
Pun Chanachai round out NM State's fivesome. Gastelum is tied for 36th at seven-over 151, and Chanachai is tied for 40th at eight-over 152.
Sophomore
Chantal Dueringer, competing as an individual, is tied for 59th at 14-over 158.
The third round from Sewailo Golf Club tees off first thing tomorrow morning. Arizona, playing on its home course, holds a 23-shot advantage over the second-place Aggies (+5, 581) entering the final 18 holes.
