LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Keep the good times rolling.
The NM State women's golf team heads to Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., this week in hopes of winning another tournament. The Arizona Wildcat Invitational tees off with the first two rounds at 7:30 a.m. MT Monday, March 9, before concluding Tuesday, March 10.
THE FIELD
Host Arizona welcomes in NM State along with Colorado, Denver, Fresno State, Iowa State, UNLV, New Mexico, Long Beach State, Oregon and Tulane
Arizona State won the team title last season, finishing at 22-over-par 886. San Diego State's Gioia Carpinelli won the individual title with a one-under 215.
THE AGGIES
NM State captured its third team title of the season last week at the UTRGV Invitational.Â
Led by sophomore
Amelia McKee's individual title-winning effort, the Aggies dominated the field at 21-over 885, finishing 10 strokes ahead of second-place Incarnate Word (+31, 895). McKee fired a three-under 69 in the final round to finish at four-under 212 overall, concluding the tournament as the only under-par competitor.
The Spring, Texas, native came in six strokes of ahead of second-place finisher Texas A&M - Corpus Christi's Autumn Bynum, who carded a two-over 218 overall. She was named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for her effort.
The Aggies will bring six competitors, including McKee, to this week's Arizona Wildcat Invitational. NM State's fivesome includes her,
Pun Chanachai,
Alison Gastelum,
Dominique Galloway and Alex Quihus, while
Chantal Dueringer will participate in the tournament as an individual.
