LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State volleyball team added Long Beach State transfer and setter Carly Aigner-Swesey, head coach
Mike Jordan announced on Saturday. Aigner-Swesey will have two years of eiligibility and enter as a junior.
"Carly is a good setter," Jordan said. "She locates well, defends well and all her previous coaches say she works hard. She wants to be great."
The Wrightwood, Calif., native played in 52 matches over two years at Long Beach. During that time, the setter recorded 1,570 assists, including 847 in 2018, and 311 digs while Long Beach State hit .231 as a squad. Last season, she led the Beach in assists (723) and ranked third on the squad in digs (146).
Aigner-Swesey starred at Serrano High School, where she was selected to the
San Bernardino Sun All-Area Team in 2016 and 2017. The 5-8 junior was also named the
High Desert Preps Daily Press Athlete of the Year while in high school.
The setter will join an Aggie squad coming off a 27-3 season that included a perfect 16-0 conference record, WAC regular season and tournament championships and its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
